Kinetix Accelerator Toolkit
Accelerate Your Machine Programming, Configuration And Start Up

If you are having trouble with your machine programming, configuration and start up, you can use Rockwell Automation's Kinetix Accelerator Toolkit. This is a free tool from Rockwell that enables you to focus on optimizing your machine and intellectual property instead of on the routine tasks that add to your overhead costs. Taking advantage of the Kinetix Accelerator Toolkit also gives you the design tools you need to quickly and easily, design, install, and maintain a machine. Other ways you can accelerate your needs include:

  • Leveraging the HMI screen templates to help you reduce integration costs and improve time to market.

  • Using basic pre-configured logic code to help you get up and running quickly while minimizing engineering costs.

  • Making use of the step-by-step Quick Start Manual to use the templates and take full advantage of the benefits of the Kinetix Accelerator Toolkit.

  • Making your job faster and easier by using the RSView fault log for troubleshooting a system problem or enhancing a machine's performance.

What is the Difference Between Remanufacturing and Repair?

Sometimes you may need to repair your Rockwell products. To ensure you continue to get the same level of quality you expect from your Allen-Bradley products, Rockwell prefers to remanufacture its product as opposed to simply repairing it. What is the difference between remanufacturing versus repairing?

When you repair a product, you are to putting it back in a good condition after it has been damaged. The repair activity therefore results in the fixing or replacing only the failed components that caused the problem in the first place. Other components would be replaced only if they are clearly impeding the correct functionality of the unit.

When you remanufacture a product, you are taking a used piece of equipment and returning it to a "like new" or even better condition by cleaning and restoring the unit, replacing aged or failed components, installing all applicable updates and enhancements and conducting all necessary testing to ensure it is functioning like a new product. In the case of Rockwell's Remanufacturing Services, they offer a one-year warranty or the balance of the new product warranty, whichever is greater. Additionally, Rockwell offers an advanced exchange program which provides already remanufactured parts ready for shipment when you need it.

To get you started with this program, all you need to have ready when you call Trade is the catalog number and series revision of the part that needs service.

What do I need to activate my software electronically?

Rockwell Software products no longer ship with a physical master disk for activating software. Instead, these software products use activation files generated by Rockwell Automation and distributed over the Internet. All products use the new electronic process, called FactoryTalk® Activation. To know which type of activation to use, check the Activation Certificate document enclosed with your software CD.

Before you activate your new software electronically, you will need:

  • A computer with an Internet connection and web browser at the site of the installation (or email, telephone, or fax capability).

  • FactoryTalk Activation software. The FactoryTalk Activation Server and Client are included on the software product CD. The Activation Server software may be on a separate CD.

  • The software Serial Number and Product Key are printed on the Activation Certificate document enclosed in a red envelope included with the software media.

Having the above ready will mean an easier installation for you. Of course, if you have any trouble installing your software, contact us and we'll be happy to help walk you through the process.

To learn more about software installation like what to do if activation is required on computers without internet access, download this FactoryTalk Frequently Asked Questions brochure.

How do I move a software activation?

If you need to move a software activation, you can pick a Host ID that is tied to a specific computer by selecting a dongle as the Host ID. This will allow you to load the software on any computer or server while the dongle remains attached to a computer. Below are some notes on dongles:

  • a Rockwell Software dongle must be purchased separately from product software (9509-USBDONG)

  • The dongle will work as a Host ID for a single computer (node-locked) or for an activation server (concurrent)

  • A single dongle can be used as the Host ID for all software products installed on a single computer or activation server

  • The dongle has a unique embedded Host ID number. You cannot use a standard USB memory drive

Following the above guidelines will make moving software activations easier. If you have further questions, contact us and we'll be happy to walk you through the process.
